ISLAMORADA, Fla. (AP) — Wildlife officials are investigating the suspicious death of a crocodile that laid its eggs in a Florida Keys yard.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the carcass was found floating in Florida Bay near Islamorada on Sunday. Spokeswoman Carli Segelson says it “appears to be not a natural death,” but she declined to provide further details.
State and federal laws prohibit killing, harassing, feeding or possessing the threatened American crocodile in Florida. Killing one is a third-degree felony.
